On Thursday October 27th the Waikato – King Country Regional Young Enterprise Scheme Annual Awards were held with the following results:

Wintec Waikato-King Country Regional YES Winner 2011

Winner – HPC Records, Hauraki Plains College

Hauraki Plains College were Equal Runners up in the National Rockshop Best Album awards, a part of this competition. They held a very successful promotional launch concert with Special Guests Jordan Luck, Annah Mac and Mike Chunn. HPC Records also successfully sold merchandise including tee-shirts, guitar picks and wristbands. Hauraki Plains College received the top score for the Waikato/King Country overall. This gives two members of the company and one teacher the opportunity to fly down to Wellington to represent the Waikato/King Country region at the National Competition on December 1st, and go to the Formal awards dinner that evening.

Waikato/Cambridge Chambers of Commerce YES Regional Runner Up

Stripes and Stars Apparel, Waikato Diocesan School for Girls

Stripes and Stars Apparel have successfully produced and sold a range of casual American styled tee-shirts.

University of Waikato Leadership Award

Winner – Jessica Watkinson, Matamata College

Of note also is the wonderful result Jessica Watkinson achieved in the Young Enterprise exam. Jessica was placed 2nd in New Zealand out of 1200 entrants in the YES exam with a mark of 95 percent.

Gallagher Best Social Enterprise

Winner – JKQ – St Peter’s School

The Waikato Business News Award for Communications

Winner – Past + Educational Resources – Matamata College

King St Advertising Sales and Marketing Award

Winner – Speranza – Waikato Diocesan School for Girls

Sky City Community Trust Enterprising Music Award

Winner – HPC Records, Hauraki Plains College

Staples Rodway Financial Management Award

Winner – Stripes and Stars Apparel, Waikato Diocesan School for Girls

EMA Waikato Award for High Growth Potential

Winner – Coach It, Matamata College

Te Wananga o Aotearoa Best Maori Business Award
